Various dance assignments given by Hannah Kerr in class at Sandy Spring Friends School.
Assignment in which a collaborative effort was needed to choreograph a dance as a group, a minimum of two minutes long, using a given prop. We then performed these pieces for the upper school. It was very hard to collaborate with dancers I did not usually work with, as well as to get some of the dancers less comfortable with choreography to equally contribute. Our piece had a pirate ship, sea voyage theme to it. Dancers/Choreographers: Haylee Tran, Luke Murray, Carley Richards, Catherine Cameron, Sara Zimmerman Given Prop: Tables of Various Sizes Spring 2012
Assignment in which dancers had to choreograph a dance that reflected a given piece of surrealist art, which would be performed by other members of the class, assigned to each choreographer by the teacher. For me, it was much harder to choreograph for others, because I was unfamiliar with their style of dance and level of comfort with certain moves. My piece was based on the work of art Le Déjeuner en fourrure by Meret Oppenheim, shown in the description under the video on YouTube.
