About Me
My name is Carley Amanda Richards, and I am eighteen years old. Family is extremely important to me, coming from a Greek background, and I feel blessed to consider my sister my best friend as well. I have been dancing since I was twelve, mostly modern, but also some hip hop, and lyrical. In addition, I have some ballet training. I love the performance element of dance, and have put many hours of rehearsal and lots of effort into various concerts and informals at Sandy Spring Friends School. I have experience choreographing (see choreography tab) group dances as well as trios, duets and solos. I have choreographed using props such as benches, tables, trees, and other objects. I have completed choreography assignments in which we were asked to take a word or picture and turn it into a dance, and site specific assignments. In addition to dance, I love the outdoors. I spend my summers hiking, canoeing, rock climbing and adventuring along the Appalachian Trail and various rivers throughout Maryland and Virginia with the Baltimore Yearly Meeting Quaker Camps. I have been attending Sandy Spring Friends School since 2000, and have always attended Quaker meetings and conferences. I am a very artistic person who loves singing, dancing and writing poetry. I take pride in the fact that I'm a published poet, and would love to pursue writing in the future. I have taken creative writing and poetry classes in the past, and submitted my work to literary journals and contests. I have a strong interest in forensic science as well, and would love to study criminology and forensic biology. I will be spending the second semester of my senior year working on an independent study in forensic science. The human mind mystifies and intrigues me. I have decided that I would like to major in biology, and then pursue a graduate degree in forensic science. In addition, I know that I will definitely keep dancing and writing, and hopefully find a career in which I continue to learn new things every day and challenge myself.
